Yamada’s Got a TV Series!

Yaaaaay!  Am I the only one excited?  Probably.  Details below the cut.

And here’s what’s available so far:

Yamada will be played by Yusuke Yamamoto, whom you may know from Kamen Rider: Kabuto (a.k.a. the best Kamen Rider ever) or the GTO TV series.  Have some pictures.

I think he’ll nail the part.

For Shiraishi, we have Mariya Nishiuchi.  She hasn’t done much that I know of, just some old lady from the latest One Piece movie.  She was also in GTO apparently.  Some pictures of her.

And together?

It bugs me that they may keep her brown hair, but who knows.  There’s also an official site for the TV series, and to quote:

The appeal of this series is its mold-breaking use of kisses between boys and girls as the central plot device, as well as the suspense of the unfolding mysteries of the seven witches.  Also, in keeping with the wonderful balance of friendship and love in this youth comedy, there will be TV-original characters that will not appear in the original story.  Whether you’re a fan of the original or just tuning in, you’ll be sure to enjoy this light, upbeat, and very different show.  The name of the game is “kissing”.  Be sure to tune in!

Yamada and the Seven Witches begins airing on Saturday, August 10th at 11:10 pm on Fuji Television.  Each episode will be approximately 45 minutes.

    TV original characters eh?
I’m not really in the loop when it comes to 3D shows, does stuff like this get subbed?

Well Yoshikawa’s other series got subbed, albeit slowly. I only know people that do the Kamen Rider and sentai shows, so I can’t say for sure if this one will.

  2. WOWOWOW~!! Im sooo excited with the series~!! I got to see the Yankee-kun to Megane-chan live action and I also loved it…

well, since there will be original characters the series will be unique in its own way :D

    Hi!
To be honest, I would have preferred an anime. I would have suited more imho (the character´s expressions, some exaggerated gestures, and because I am used to the manga faces).
Even so, I’m getting excited about the series though the idea of “tv-original characters” slightly puts me off. I wonder if they are going to alter the plot a lot as well. I don´t want the whole plot and essence of Yamada (including its characters) to be changed. I love this story and characters so much!!!
But of course, I will wait and watch the series (if subtitles are available lol) to judge these changes, I won´t mind them if they really enhance the series.
    Thanks for the post!

Thought it was a joke, it’s legit. I wonder how long the manga will last. Besides the whole investigation and bonding stuff nothing much has happened story-wise.

  5. Job John says:

I mean the story has potential to last a long time, hope it doesn’t end with the seventh witch.

That last picture is cute. (。♥‿♥。)
If the actors are any good, the body swap shenanigans are gonna be hilarious.

  7. nurdish says:

Cool! It would be better if Yamada played by a different actor though. :/ I feel like he does’nt fit in. Will you translate it to English? That would be great….

  8. asehastly says:
